Color makes us happy over here at S&O. We are big on feeling happy when walking into a home or a room, and a big part of obtaining that feeling is through the use of color. Don't get me wrong, we do love a neutral palate too, but today is zoned in on the color lovin' type. There are tons of ways you can infuse color into your decor. One of the easiest is by way of accessories and/or pillows. Because you can never have enough pillows, right?!
Now, I know what your thinking… Thoughts of blue and pink and yellow pop in your head, and your like... why would I EVER want my house to look like a circus?? BUT we are here to save the day and tell you it doesn't have to look that way. You can pack a punch in a big way with understating colors, or using color as a statement/focal piece.
For instance, A deep indigo, orange, yellow or green wall in any given room with lots of framed art hung on it. See? You still have that great color peaking out behind the art (That could all be neutral tones if you wanted) but its not screaming at you.
It's magic, really.
A slightly bolder way to to infuse color into a room, which we are big fans of 'round these parts is a colored piece of furniture. Yep. any color will do really. Just do it. Be bold and buy the green couch. If that's what you know will make you smile when you walk into the room, then why not!? And your guests will probably immediately think your cool too. :)

Are you inspired yet?...Happy Friday, all!
As a little girl I never really thought about traveling much. Traveling to me meant going to see family in Kansas, going to Florida, Wisconsin, or the Ozarks with my school friends…all not too far away. Those times were so much fun and memories were made, but I never really dreamt of traveling far away, like OVER SEAS. Like flying over the sea across the world to a foreign land. To places where the culture was completely opposite of all that I knew.
When I met my husband, he had a trip to Italy planned and I thought it was pretty cool that he was going alone to Rome to see a friend he had over there. That's where it started for me. I got inspired. He loved Rome and traveling to new places and taking in the new culture, and it must've rubbed off on me. Fast forward to a few years later, and we have traveled more than I ever thought I would-- I have loved every minute of it.
Later this year we are going to Greece. We booked our tickets recently, and we are stopping in Austria for a few days on the way. Yep, the place that the Sound of Music was filmed. They have a tour I may just have to force my husband to go on with me.
I usually like to go places where I KNOW there is amazing food. You can't blame me right? That's part of the experience for me. Food. Schnitzel doesn't really excite me, but if it's not delicious I will have Greece to look forward to for that. I did see something about cakes and strudel in Austria though so I may just survive on dessert for a few days.
More importantly, I hear its absolutely beautiful there and I am sure the photos below don't even do it justice. We are going to try to go hiking and/or drive around to see the countryside to take it all.
SO- two, well, really three new places this year. First up- Austria, Santorini, then Ikaria.
We can't wait to take on the relaxed culture in Greece and with friends in Ikaria. I guess they know the secret to long life there. I'll let ya know what I find out.
